SA-Engineers has been involved in a number of local Housing Projects. Below are some explanations of a few of our projects.

Syracuse University Campus West Housing, Syracuse, NY

10-3270 - SU Law College Housing (14) - 2012Project includes the design of a 70,000 sq. ft., four (4) story student housing complex consisting of five (5) building units.  The structure is primarily timber framed construction with wood roof rafters, floor joists, and stud bearing walls and headers.  The footings and foundation/retaining walls are reinforced concrete.  The first floor area consists of common areas, retail space, and dining areas built with wood rafters on structural steel girders and columns.  The lateral resisting is provided by using wood shear walls with plywood sheathing and moment resisting frames at structural steel framed locations.

VanKeuren Square Apartments, Syracuse, NY

11-3458 - Vankeuren Square Apartments (5) - 2012Project includes the design of a 45,000 sq. ft., three (3) story housing project.  The building incorporates timber framed construction with wood roof rafters, floor joists, and stud bearing walls and headers. Footings and foundation/retaining walls consist of reinforced concrete. Wood shear walls with plywood sheathing and moment resisting frames at structural steel framed locations provide lateral resistance. The main floor includes common areas, community areas, and retail space built with wood joists on structural steel girders and columns.

Tecumseh Road Senior Apartments, Dewitt, NY

Project includes the design of a 30,000 sq. ft., two (2) story elderly housing facility. The structure consists of timber framed construction with wood roof rafters, floor joists, and stud bearing walls and headers.  Foundations, retaining walls and footings are reinforced concrete. The first floor area consists of common areas, retail space, and community areas built with wood joists on structural steel girders and columns.  Lateral resisting design consists of wood shear walls with plywood sheathing and moment resisting frames at structural steel framed locations.

 

O’Brien Road Senior Apartments, Syracuse, NY

Project includes the design of a 30,000 sq. ft., two (2) story elderly housing facility.  The structure is primarily timber framed construction with wood roof rafters, floor joists, and stud bearing walls and headers.  The footings and foundation/retaining walls are reinforced concrete. The main floor area consists of common areas, retail space, and community areas constructed using wood joists on structural steel girders and columns.  Wood shear walls with plywood sheathing and moment resisting frames at structural steel framed locations provide lateral resistance.

 

Franklin View Terrace Apartments, Syracuse, NY

Project includes the design of a new 60,000 sq. ft. four (4) story building.  The structure is primarily timber framed over a steel and concrete deck at the first floor level.  A concrete “cap” beam was placed above an existing foundation system.
